Hey everyone! I haven’t blogged in so long, and I miss it! What a year this past one has been for us. As we celebrated Mike’s birthday yesterday, there was no way to avoid remembering what his birthday was like last year. We were in lots of pain, and living with my Mom, and just longing to feel well enough to celebrate milestones like birthdays. Fast forward to this year, and we are on our way. Still dealing with the changes our injuries have brought us, but thanking God everyday for what we were spared. It has been such a journey, and God has taught us so much about trusting, compassion, faith, and the list goes on and on. I could never thank all of our friends for all of the support you have shown us, I think of it everyday, and I am encouraged by it. Traveling again, is a little harder physically than it once was, but we are so excited for the opportunity to still be able to do so, we appreciate the continued prayers of our friends!
I want to tell you very quickly about our new CD “Feels Like Sunday.” You can now order it right here on our website, it’s some favorite songs of the church, new and old. We had begun working on it before the accident, and had to wait to finish until we felt well enough to go back to the studio. Some of my favorites are “Jesus Messiah” “Mercy and Grace” and “Thou Art Worthy.” Like always, we pray it speaks to hearts, and that when you listen to it you have the happy feeling, that feeling of peace, that content feeling that you have after a great Sunday morning service!
More of Him, Less of me, remember that? Well, needless to say, the last year took it’s toll on my exercise regimen. I have began working out (very carefully again), and walking towards health! I am confident that I can do all things with God’s help! If you are a trainer, nutritionist, or have lost weight, I welcome tips and advice! Well, I have to go for now, much to do! Love you all!
As most of you know the touring family known as “The Bowlings” were involved in a terrible bus accident on July 1st, 2010. The seriously injured were Mike, Kelly, and Katelanne. Mike suffered a brain injury and bleed, broken arm, lacerations and bruising. Kelly had a broken back and a broken foot. Katelanne was badly cut on her face and had a broken clavicle bone. Mike and Katelanne were airlifted to the hospital in Charlotte and the rest of the family was taken to a Charlotte hospital by ambulance.
Here are informative links to this story, if you are not already aware.
The good news is they have been recovering nicely after months of wheelchairs, hospital beds and therapy. The family is back to a two day per week road schedule. They had to take the last half of 2010 off and put their health first! We are never prepared for a call like the one we got on July 1st, never! But, the prayers of the saints, and the love and support from thousands sustained us. While the world watched on facebook or the local news to see what the outcome would be, we allowed your love to keep us sane and focused. Thank God for all of you!!
I pray that in some small way we can show you how appreciated you ALL are.
God is faithful and HE alone is able. Thanks for holding Mike, Kelly, Terah, and families up during this trying time. They are well on their way to victory and it seems they have stepped into a place of favor from God and the world! Keep them ALL in your prayers and let’s see these kids through to the other side!!
I look forward to seeing what God’s going to do.
All my love,
Hey Everybody! It’s been a great few weeks for me! I have now lost 60 pounds and I feel so much better!! I need to lose 70 more to get to the doctors heathly size for me. Water has been a big key for me!! I have never really loved water, but now that’s all I drink and I love it! Still working out for an hour a day, most days! I really do love to workout!! And you for sure need to eat healthy to lose weight, but I will have to say that I do love food, and I’m going to have a slice of cake every now and then. You will never win if you deprive yourself all the time! It’s best not to splurge often, but every now and then will not kill ya! So how are all my friends doing!! Praying that God would give strength to us all to reach our goals!! Love you lots!! TERAH
We are so sorry that the blogging has been tardy. This month has been crazy busy and it is so tough to type on our iphones. We have been on the road without our computers…..soooo….blogging has been difficult, but we are committed to doing better:)
But the good news, I am at 54 lbs. lost, Kelly is at 40 or more! To GOD be the glory. This has truly been “one day at a time” for me. Most of you that struggle with weight and health know aboout those bad days when you are tired and hungry. I am finding that water is my best friend. It makes me full and hydrates me..which helps my voice with all this heat.
My advice for the week. Drink water, then drink some more:)
Pray for us when you pray! We have much to do. Kelly and I are so happy for the 94 lbs. you won’t see when you come see us this summer!!!! We are not there yet, but well on our way.
Thanks for your love, support and prayers. You all rock!!
So this week I have a new accomplishment! I can now do the elliptical for one hour! Woo Hoo!!! I’m not saying it doesn’t make me want to cry, (LOL)and that I don’t have to push through the last twenty minutes or so, but I can do it! I was inspired by Terah, who told me on Saturday that she did it for an hour!!!!!!!!! My longest time was maybe forty-five minutes or so. And although, Terah and I are not competitive at all, I felt I had to step it up! LOL I can’t be left too far in the dust. So, I stepped it up, and I am sore, but I feel so very good. It was time to step it up! I can remember when we first started this little journey, I could barely do twenty minutes, so that is progress!
Let us never underestimate how good a little progress can feel! I’m so thankful for all of your words of encouragement, and your prayers!!!!! It has meant so much to us! Blessings to you all!!!!!! Also very proud of Terah for being inspiring this week!!!
So sorry it has been so long from the last blog!! I hope all of you are doing well!! Kelly and I are doing great! Trying as hard as we can to fight this fight and win!!! We made our goal to get to go on our Disney trip! Woohoo! We just got home today and we had so much fun with the kids!! Disney always makes me feel like a kid!!! Anyways, my new goal:) I would love to loss 30 more pounds by my birthday in Sept. I’m going to work really hard!! Would love to hear how your doing:) I pray God give you the stringth to fight:) love y’all!
I am sorry for not blogging recently! We have been soooo busy! :0) There have been a whole lot of things going on, that’s for sure! Please continue to pray for this area. The flooding has been unlike anything that I have ever seen! It’s so devastating, we have been blessed to not have damage, but we are praying for those who have, and especially those who lost loved ones. Our hearts and prayers go out to them.
It’s hard to blog and not mention the flood, and after doing so everything else seems so silly. However, all is well on our “Less of Me, More of Him journey. Another pound was gone Monday. I am thankful for that. I pray that all of you are well! We are making a “live video” Thursday, and appreciate your prayers. Until next time……
Hey All! It has been a very busy few weeks! Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while:) This week was Dove Awards week! We had a lot of fun! One very exciting thing of the week was Ricky Skaggs asked us to sing back up for him! What a very sweet man. I have always loved to hear him sing! That was a highlight in my life:) On a different note, I have been doing very well on my weight loss! The weight is not coming off very fast, but every week I am seeing lower numbers. I’m happy with that! Kelly and Mike are doing great too! I can see the weight coming off of them!! Very proud of them!! Working out is the big KEY for me! If I don’t have time to workout, I feel bad all day. Who would have thought I would love to workout! LOL! Well, I pray your doing well! My friend Marshall has lost 22 pounds! Proud of him!! Yes, I said him!! Guys are doing this too!!:) Love y’all! Let us know how you’re doing!!
Hey friends! It’s a lovely day here, the sun is shining bright! It’s wonderful! I need to get out there! I was able to get in a good workout yesterday, felt so good! Mike and Terah are both doing so good too! I’m very proud of them both! I went to buy some new clothes and I bought a size that I haven’t worn in at least a couple of years! It’s an everyday thing of waking up and deciding to make good choices. Some days are definitely easier than others, but I know it’s worth it! I can’t say “thank you” enough for all of the words of encouragement we have been given! We are so blessed with many wonderful friends! Much love to you all! Until next time……
So, I got to swim this morning! Yay! It was definitely a nice change from the elliptical. We are in WV today, and it’s so cold here, so thankful for indoor pools! Just ate a blackened chicken salad for lunch, it was yummy! I’m starting to feel so much better, finally! Praise the Lord for that! I hope you all are doing well! Until next time…..
