It’s great to be back!
July 14th, 2011 by KellyB

Hey everyone! I haven’t blogged in so long, and I miss it! What a year this past one has been for us. As we celebrated Mike’s birthday yesterday, there was no way to avoid remembering what his birthday was like last year. We were in lots of pain, and living with my Mom, and just longing to feel well enough to celebrate milestones like birthdays. Fast forward to this year, and we are on our way. Still dealing with the changes our injuries have brought us, but thanking God everyday for what we were spared. It has been such a journey, and God has taught us so much about trusting, compassion, faith, and the list goes on and on. I could never thank all of our friends for all of the support you have shown us, I think of it everyday, and I am encouraged by it. Traveling again, is a little harder physically than it once was, but we are so excited for the opportunity to still be able to do so, we appreciate the continued prayers of our friends!
I want to tell you very quickly about our new CD “Feels Like Sunday.” You can now order it right here on our website, it’s some favorite songs of the church, new and old. We had begun working on it before the accident, and had to wait to finish until we felt well enough to go back to the studio. Some of my favorites are “Jesus Messiah” “Mercy and Grace” and “Thou Art Worthy.” Like always, we pray it speaks to hearts, and that when you listen to it you have the happy feeling, that feeling of peace, that content feeling that you have after a great Sunday morning service!
More of Him, Less of me, remember that? Well, needless to say, the last year took it’s toll on my exercise regimen. I have began working out (very carefully again), and walking towards health! I am confident that I can do all things with God’s help! If you are a trainer, nutritionist, or have lost weight, I welcome tips and advice! ;) Well, I have to go for now, much to do! Love you all!

Kelly

Kelly, there were many millions of prayers that went up for ya’ll. God certainly did a miracle that day and all of this past year. We saw you at Jackson, TN, at Victory Worship Center a few months ago and you all have never sounded better!! I am hoping to come to Corinth next week, but I need to know about if tickets are required and how to get them.

I lost 50 pounds doing the Atkins Diet. Haven’t got started exercising yet, but hopefully one day I will. Still got 50 more to go.

I have been seeing you all for about 9 years. I came to 4 of the reunion dates at Christmas (3 weekends in a row) and hope you do it again this year. Love all of ya’ll so much.

Hi Kelly, so good seeing you blog again. Your songs have always been a blessing to me but to hear you sing, A Miracle Today, after your accident, it’s such a huge blessing…
I myself have lost 130 lbs….it’s taken a little over 4 years but just by walking and eating right and watching my caloric intake….and fat grams..I wish you luck…I had taking some meds last month and I gained 18 lbs back in a month, needless to say I was a little upset…and working even harder now to lose that 18 plus another 20…if you want to see pics just email me and I’ll send you some pics of what I used to be and where I am now….Just take it slow and don’t let anyone hinder you…
    God Bless.

Would love to purchase the CD on-line Kelly (it’s a great price!!), but I don’t trust PayPal. I noticed that we can purchase t-shirts on your website using credit cards. Why is that not possible for the CD?

My wife Sue and I loved you guys in Winchester, Ky. recently.

Kelly-So glad too see your blog again and to read you are walking for your exercise. In 2002, I lost 80 lbs. There were some events in my life that contributed to that, however, to cope with the stress I began walking. Walking about 35-40 minutes a day plus dietary changes and the pounds fell off. The first thing I did with my diet was limit my red meat. By that I mean hamburger and, yes, the tasty steak. I’m sure that might be hard to do when you are on the road. Just remember if it swims (seafood) or it flies (chicken) it’s much better for you than red meat. When shopping, watch grams of sugar in everything.
Also, I have orthopedic issues with my knee from a bone graft at age 11, so I understand pain with exercise. I have found walking on a treadmill negatively impacts my joints. I can be found walking in the street because hot asphalt is so much more comfortable on the impact to my knee. It would probably benefit your spine to walk on a softer surface. Also exercise in the pool or better yet check out water aerobics. Your back will thank you. You can do it, Kelly. Talk to you soon. Love ya and God bless.

Hi Kelly-So glad to see your are blogging again and exercising again. In 2001, I lost 80 lbs. There were some events in my life that contributed to that, however, to cope with the stress I began walking. Walking 30-40 minutes a day with a sensible diet and the pounds fell off. Advice-I’ve got plenty, but I’ll keep it short. Limit your red meat. With that, I mean hamburger and yes, the tasty steak. I’m sure diet is difficult when you are on the road, but just remember if it swims (seafood) or it flies (chicken) it’s better than red meat. It would be best if that seafood or chicken was grilled or baked, not breaded and fried. When shopping, watch grams of sugar in everything!
As far as the exercise, I had a bone graft in my knee at age 11, so I understand pain with exercise.
I have found that a treadmill causes me pain. Something about the impact just walking in one place and not moving forward. I am a member of a wellness center with an inside track, however, when walking outdoors I find that asphalt is much kinder to my knee than concrete. I bet your spine would like asphalt better, also. Get in the pool for exercise or better yet try water aerobics.
Little by little you WILL achieve your health goals, Kelly. Hope these tips help. God Bless.

Kelly, I’m also trying to lose weight trying to thin down. I have Type 2 diabetes. It is not easy. I’ve just started pushing myself this week. I’m hoping that God will allow to keep going and will award me for my work. If I get my health under control, I’m better fit to serve him. I’m very busy in my church, I’m allowing God to move through me and I’m hoping that it rubs off on people that I am around every day, around my church, and my family.
We love your family and enjoy your music. Keep serving the Lord. He has brought your family through an experience that speaks volumes to people who just think they can’t go on.

So glad to hear that you’re feeling better. I was having problems losing weight, so I had my metabolism checked, and it was 1080…lowest is 1000, so basically, mine wasn’t working. Along with thyroid problems, i wasn’t seeing any weight loss. I went to a natural health store, and they put me on protein shakes..which counts as a meal. Basically, you eat 5 times a day. I drink my shake for breakfast, then about 2 hours later, I eat a apple. For lunch, I might have a salad, afternoon snack, usually another apple, and then for supper, maybe some grilled chicken with green beans and cole slaw. Lost some weight, then found out my daughter is getting married in a year, so I went to the Dr. and she put me on Phentermine. I drink LOTS of water all day. Just went for a weigh in at the dr’s office, and lost 6 pounds in a month. My arthritis dr told me that to get less friction on your knees and spine, go to a heated pool, or go to a gym..they usually have the soft matted floors, and walk that. Good Luck.

Kelly, good to see you blogging again. I had lapband surgery in August of last year. I spoke to you and Terah, about it in Owenboro,ky. I’ve lost 70 lbs and my band messed up but, I’m getting ready to get back on the road to recovery. They taught us to stop drinking thirty minutes before you eat, and don’t drink while eating and thirty minutes after your meal u can drink plenty of water. Hope to be at least 60 pounds lighter when I see you all again. I love you all so much. Evansville,In
